INDIVIDUAL PROJECT | 2020
My favorite parts of the product design process have always been exploring and learning new materials. It is very interesting for me to work with different materials, to discover their distinctive qualities and characteristics.
My junior year summer was spent at a famous glass factory in Taiwan learning about traditional glass blowing and forming techniques. At the beginning, it was quite a challenge because the material is hard to control and it took me a while to learn how to balance myself with it.
My experience at the camp wasn't just limited to knowledge of glass and how to work with it. Additionally, I learned to concentrate in an extremely hot environment, to be patient with the material, because it might break easily. In addition, multitasking is necessary since the process of forming glass requires a number of steps, so you must plan ahead what needs to be accomplished.
