Dear Princess
4 WEEKS | INDIVIDUAL PROJECT | 2019
The chair was made for Princess Diana. Her style, spirit, and personality have made her an inspirational figure to me for many years.
As a public figure, she was frequently pursued by the paparazzi. Even though I do not know her personally, I was able to sense her frustration through documentaries and interviews. Thus, when I decided to make a chair for her, I knew I wanted to create a chair that would allow her to relax in comfort. With a chair, the princess could take a break from the busy world.
Princess Diana's body gestures also influenced the design of the oak chair legs. Curvy and organic, they even look a little like human legs. Diana's oak bedroom in Althorp was the inspiration behind the blue velvet fabric.
In addition to being a symbol of royalty, blue also represents inner security and confidence.
